Precucuteni and Cucuteni pottery
Painted vessels and fragments over five thousand years old, from one of the great cultures of Old Europe.

The Precucuteni and Cucuteni pottery fragments found around Baia belong to one of the most refined prehistoric civilisations of Europe. The vessels were shaped by hand, without a potter’s wheel, and painted with spirals in white, red and black.
They show that the Moldova valley was inhabited and farmed thousands of years before the medieval town was founded.
